James Maslow Interview with Yahoo TV

James Maslow (James Diamond of "Big Time Rush") is in Houston for a special guest appearance at the Children's Festival to benefit the Child Advocates organization. I had a chance to talk to him before his appearance, and here is what he had to say about "Big Time Rush" and his character.
I have some questions for you from your fans. One fan wants to know if you are anything like your "Big Time Rush" character.
James Maslow: In real life I am very different than James Diamond. We share a sense of drive and tenacity though with different motivations. My character's motivations are generally superficial while mine focus on the long-term goal, which for me is a long career doing what I love.
What was your favorite episode of "BTR" to make and why?
James Maslow: "Big Time Beach Party" was my favorite episode to film because I got to stay in Malibu for almost two weeks! Surfing in the mornings and chilling with Russel Brand made it a pretty awesome experience.

Big Time Rush's Plans for Vacation

Now that the curtains have closed on the fourth season of Big Time Rush, fans are currently wondering about the fate of their beloved Nickelodeon sitcom. But it's not just the Rushers scratching their heads. When MTV News caught up with BTR earlier this summer, they seemed just as uncertain of their TV show's future.
"As far as we know, this might have been the last season, fourth season. There's nothing official," said group member James Maslow. "But either way, we're focusing on tour, that's our next mission and I believe we'll do something after that but what it is specifically we'll figure out after the tour is off the ground."In the meantime, one thing that's well underway is their upcoming vacation. After their Big Time Tour wraps August 15 in Mexico, the guys are planning on taking a well-deserved break.
"We don't know where," said Carlos Pena. "But there will be booze ..."

"Booze and boobs," Pena's bandmates Logan Henderson and Kendall Schmidt exclaimed in unison.

"That's pretty much what a vacation is all about," agreed Maslow with a grin.

While this won't be the guys' first retreat together (a trip to Hawaii last year served as the inspiration for their "Windows Down" music video) could it potentially be their last?

"Nothing is over," Maslow replied when asked if the band would dismantle simultaneously with the show. "We're best friends, we really are."

"So you consider me your best friend?" Pena interrupted.

"For the purpose of this interview, yeah, but now that you said that though I'm reconsidering," Maslow laughed.

Kendall Schmidt to Headline Global Tour and Keep Fans First as He Focuses on Writing and Recording

NEW YORKJuly 31, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
As lead singer of Big Time Rush, America's most well-known boy band via Nickelodeon's hit television series plus his active role in Heffron Drive, Kendall Schmidt is one busy guy. Though he will spend the summer continuing the Big Time Rush world tour, fall brings even more activity and plenty of world travel for the teen heartthrob.

With his focus moving into music and a limited amount of television specials and movies, Kendall will have more free time to continue touring with both bands as well as log some serious studio time, which is so important to the longtime songwriter that, at any given time, he has over 50 unreleased songs to his name. Long a believer in constant interaction with fans, Kendall will keep up the dizzying pace of press tours, personal appearances and meet and greets, both here at home and abroad. In fact, come September, Kendall will be performing with both bands at Nickelodeon Australia's Slimefest, always a fan favorite. Kendall plans to spend quite a while Down Under and hit hard the studios of both Australia and New Zealand, a place he came to know and love while penning a song with Logan Henderson for New Zealand's biggest pop group Titanium whose debut #1 single "come on home" achieved double platinum status.

Carlos Pena Interview with Latina Magazine

EXCLUSIVE: Big Time Rush's Carlos Pena, Jr.

We can't lie, Nickelodeon's Big Time Rush has become one of our favorite guilty pleasures, and we have Carlos Pena, Jr. to thank for that.
The 23-year-old -- who was born to a Spanish and Venezuelan father, and Dominican mother -- took a break from his summer tour to talk to us about fellow touring buddy Victoria Justice, learning how to speak Spanish, and his relationship with a famous Latina celeb.
For the full scoop, read our interview with Carlos below:

Kendall Schmidt Interview with Newtownbee

It was Newtown native and television writer and producer Scott Fellows who came up with the concept for what would become Big Time Rush — a TV series about four hockey player buddies from Minnesota who get “made” into a boy band with targeted appeal straight to the heart of the age 8-14 demographic.
But BTR’s mass audience for their four season Nickelodeon run and three sizzling and top selling albums might be surprised to know the seamless integration of TV and music, along with the creation of a powerhouse concert draw, was inspired by a foursome popular when their moms and dads were 8 to 14: The Monkees.
If we take The Monkees comparison even further, Big Time Rush member Kendall Schmidt would be the Mike character, because he’s the one who came to BTR already experienced playing in a band.
Kendall, along with bandmades Logan Henderson, James Maslow, and Carlos Pena, Jr, will be arriving in Newtown on July 22, along with their creator Mr Fellows, to play a special free concert for the community at Fairfield Hills.
In a conversation this week with Kendall, he said the 3,500 town residents who snagged tickets are in for a show that will rely less on staging and special effects, and more on what the group does best: singing their hearts out and having a good time along with the crowd.
The conversation started by clarifying how much Big Time Rush the TV show actually compared to the popular mid-1960s Monkees series.

HAPPY 23rd BIRTHDAY JAMES MASLOW

In 1990, 16th of July a baby boy was born to this world. He was a nice, cute little boy and now he's grown up and become our beloved idol!
In age 23, James David Maslow has reached his career and currently living his dream in Hollywood.
We can't be prouder than we are right now. He taught us so many things about life, love, and dreaming.

Get A Peek Inside Tour Life with Big Time Rush

The guys of Big Time Rush are currently on the road, touring all over the place this summer. Maybe you’re one of the lucky people that get to see them live in person!
We had that privilege recently when the guys stopped by the OK! offices, and we took the opportunity to ask them all about life on the road. So we played a little game of “Home Alone or On the Road” with them to find out where they do particular activities.

Big Time Rush Interview with E!Online

As the season 4 finale approaches, Big Time Rush fans just want to know one thing: Will there be a fifth season?
And that's the first thing E! News' Ken Baker asked the band when he sat down with them before their Summer Break Tour show in Phoenix. Unfortunately, the answer we got might not be that helpful.
"We have no idea," all the guys said.
Big Time Rush
James clarified, "I think we're all open to the idea. Either way, we may continue to do music. Nothing's set in stone."
Guess that vague answer will have to do for now! There was at least one question everyone could answer with complete certainty: Who will be the first band member to get married?
The unanimous answer: Carlos! (It looks like even James' adorable pup Fox agrees!)
In the midst of their tour with Victoria Justice, there is one thing that makes the guys a little uneasy. Sometimes the fan encounters can be a little intense, especially if there are some younger ones in the mix.

Big Time Rush Interview with Ink Splot 26's

Big Time Rush has a new album called 24/7, and a summer tour happening now. And, because I have the seriously most awesome job in whole, wide world, I got to meet them when they came to Scholastic! You won’t even believe how nice they are. However nice you think they are, multiply by, like, a hundred, and that is their actual niceness factor. They all gave me hugs and called me “Darlin’” and told jokes. Pretty much a perfect day for me. Here is some of what they said, but, to be honest, I was kind of floating, so I might have missed some bits.

St. Augustine Interview with Logan Henderson

Big Time Rush (BTR is one of the world’s most popular boy bands. The group, comprised of Kendall Schmidt, James Maslow, Logan Henderson and Carlos Pena, began creating music on their Nickelodeon show of the same name.
The show is about the Hollywood misadventures of four hockey players from Minnesota that are selected to form a boy band. The show is currently in its fourth season. BTR has followed suit of many popular Nick shows and created a live music tour.
On July 6, in support of their third album “24/Seven,” the guys make a stop at the Amphitheatre on their national Summer Break Tour with opening acts Olivia Somerlyn and Jackson Guthy.
Compass: What are you up to today?
Logan Henderson: Well, today was not too bad. We had a day off yesterday in Memphis and so we kind of hung out around there. It’s been a slow morning — some of the guys are at the gym and I went skateboarding around the venue a little bit.

Big Time Rush Chats with Time For Kids

Kid Reporter Zachary Lewis (center) poses with Big Time Rush members (from left) Carlos Pena, James Maslow, Logan Henderson and Kendall Schmidt.

The stars of the Nickelodeon show Big Time Rush are headed for the big time. As season 4 of the series wraps up, Kendall Schmidt, Carlos Pena Jr., Logan Henderson, and James Maslow are turning their attention offscreen. On June 11, the actors, who also have a band, released a new album, 24/Seven. From now until August 11, fans can hear the new music on the group’s Summer Break Tour with Victoria Justice.
Kendall, James, Carlos and Logan, whose characters on the show share their first names, came together after a two-year audition process that began in 2007. The boys were cast as a fictional boy band making its way in Hollywood. Like their fictional counterparts, the members of Big Time Rush are successful musicians who write much of their own music.
TFK Kid Reporter Zachary Lewis recently sat down with the band members to talk about the latest season of their show and their summer tour. For interesting behind-the-scenes tidbits, read on.

Boyband Comedy Takes Final Bow

After four seasons, Nickelodeon's boy-band comedy hit "Big Time Rush" is winding down to its final episode this month.
Which is bittersweet for BTR cast member Logan Henderson.
"Everybody kind of got a little emotional. But you know what, it's been such a fun ride," said Henderson, whose character, Logan Mitchell, is always rescuing the guys from one mishap or another. "It was very much a family. We've seen these guys for four or five years, so we were getting emotional. … It was very sweet, but I think it's a nice way to wrap up this project."

"I'm just excited to keep the ball rolling. I'm excited for the next step in my career. I'm excited to pursue film and do my own music. I don't wanna take anytime off if I can help it," said "Big Time Rush" actor James Maslow about his career beyond his hit Nickelodeon television show.

With boy bands like 'N SyncBackstreet Boys98 DegreesBoyz II Men, and Hansen ruling the 90's it should come as no surprise that boy bands are once again on the rise, capturing the hearts of tweens and teens across the world and of course the Hamptons. One of the groups who helped make the return of boy bands cool again is Big Time Rush. The group gained popularity from the Nickelodeon television series "Big Time Rush" (BTR) which follows four hockey players from Minnesota - Kendall, James, Carlos, and Logan - after being selected to form a boy band in Los Angeles.

Big Time Rush Kicks Into Radio Action, Readies Summer Break Tour

On a recent afternoon at a Burbank production studio, the members of Big Time Rush were shooting a music video for their song “24/Seven,” a characteristically chipper ode to living every day like a holiday. After the shoot the Nickelodeon-bred boy band was headed to Orlando, Fla., where it had a performance scheduled at the Universal Studios theme park, and then onto an appearance at the Mall of America near Minneapolis.

Kendall Schmidt, James Maslow, Carlos Pena and Logan Henderson — professional actors cast, Monkees style, in a kids’ television series depicting the adventures of a fresh-faced pop group — were up for the action to come. But what the young men, all between the ages of 22 and 23, seemed more excited about during a break from the video was recounting their brush with a different scene at last year’s Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.
“Our friend Snoop Dogg was performing, and we got to hang out backstage,” Henderson said, gathered with his band mates around a picnic table outside the studio. “I remember we had to work Monday, so after the show we took a chopper all the way back.” He laughed. “It was a rock ‘n’ roll moment for sure.”

Big Time Rush Heading for 10 Top on Billboard 200

Big Time Rush and the “Man of Steel” film soundtrack are heading for top 10 debuts on the Billboard 200 albums chart next week. Industry sources suggest Big Time Rush’s new “24/Seven” album could sell around 45,000 copies by the end of the tracking week on Sunday, June 16. The “Man of Steel” soundtrack — an instrumental score album by Hans Zimmer — might move around 30,000.

The new Billboard 200 chart’s top 10 will be revealed on the morning of Wednesday, June 19.
A start of 45,000 would be the vocal quartet’s smallest debut so far. Big Time Rush’s last release, 2011′s “Elevate,” moved 70,000 in its first week, for a No. 12 entry, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Before that, their “BTR” debut in 2010 moved 67,000 in its opening frame (a No. 3 bow).

Big Time Rush’s “24/Seven” might debut at No. 3 on next week’s chart, behind the likely new No. 1, Black Sabbath’s “13.” The latter title is set for a start of around 120,000, securing the band’s first No. 1 and its best sales week in the SoundScan era (1991-present).
At the present, it seems like Daft Punk’s “Random Access Memories” should hold at No. 2 with around 40,000.

Zimmer’s “Man of Steel” score soundtrack could debut in the top five on the chart, which would be the highest-charting instrumental score album since Daft Punk’s “TRON: Legacy” hit No. 4 in January of 2011. “Man of Steel” opened in U.S. movie theaters on Friday, June 14.
An instrumental score set was most recently in the top 10 just a year ago, when Zimmer’s “Dark Knight Rises” soundtrack debuted and peaked at No. 8 on the chart dated Aug. 4, 2012.
Other albums aiming for top 20 debuts next week include: Goo Goo Dolls’ “Magnetic” (30,000), the Lonely Island’s “The Wack Album” (25,000), Jimmy Eat World’s “Damage” (20,000) and Chrisette Michele’s “Better” (20,000).

On SoundScan’s Building chart (below), Black Sabbath is No. 1, followed by Big Time Rush and Daft Punk, respectively, at Nos. 2 and 3. The Building tally is a precursor to the final Billboard 200 ranking — reflecting the first four days (Monday through Thursday) of SoundScan’s tracking week as reported by six major merchants.

As for the rest of the top 10: the Lonely Island, Goo Goo Dolls and Michele are Nos. 4-6. Darius Rucker’s “True Believers” follows at No. 7, Florida Georgia Line’s “Here’s to the Good Times” places at No. 8 and the “Man of Steel” soundtrack is No. 9. Imagine Dragon’s “Night Visions” closes out the top 10 at No. 10.

Kendall Schmidt Chats with Female First UK

Kendall Schmidt is a busy guy at the moment as he is currently writing new material for Heffron Drive as well as about to set out on a new tour with Big Time Rush. We caught up with the singer/songwriter to chat about what Heffron Drive have been up to as well as what is in the pipeline for him for the rest of this year.

We obviously know you best from Big Time Rush but we are going to be seeing you fronting Heffron Drive so how did you and Dustin Belt meet?

We met on the street after which the band was named. Funny thing is, we never met until we were in California – even though we were born in Kansas at the same hospital.

How would you say you sound differs from Big Time Rush?

Big Time Rush has a contemporary Top 40 pop sound. Heffron Drive is more dance-rock-electro. I’d say Heffron Drive’s sound is like a mix of Skrillex and Zedd with Fallout Boy and Incubus.

You have just been out in Germany with the band so how was your time out there?

Ich liebe Deutschland and Ă–sterreich! We played in Austria and Germany on this trip and loved every minute of it.
It’s great being with the German and Austrian fans; they are an amazing group of people and they live in two beautiful countries. Germany is a very special place for me because it’s my ancestral homeland.

Big Time Rush "24/Seven" The Review

Although Big Time Rush was put together by Nickelodeon, don’t let the boy band stereotype get in your way of listening to their awesome music. They’ve got angelic four-part harmonies to make the girls swoon and melodies that will get stuck in your head all day. Throughout the years, Big Time Rush began to influence each of their albums and write songs for the show and themselves as well. With hard work and dedication from the past two years, they’ve created their third album, 24/seven.
24/seven has a song for everybody. There are classic pop songs like “Picture This”, “Like Nobody’s Around”, and “24/seven”, slower songs like “Run Wild” and “We Are”, and more upbeat songs like “Love Me Again” and “Just Getting Started”. With most of the songs being featured on the TV show, it’s really awesome to listen to it on the radio as well. The album features songs with Karmin and Jake Miller, and has co-writers like Matt Squire, Damon Sharpe, and Matt Thiessen of Relient K.

James Maslow Interview with Just Jared Jr

The 22-year-old musician is gearing up for BTR‘s big summer tour and celebrating the release of the band’s brand new album 24/Seven!

Meanwhile, the guys’ show Big Time Rush is also in full swing on Nickelodeon.
JJJ caught up with James just as the new album hit No. 1 on the iTunes charts!
He gave us the scoop on the new music and what fans can expect in concert this summer.

JustJaredJr: Congrats on the album release! What can you tell us about 24/Seven and how it compares to other BTR albums?

James Maslow: 24/Seven is much more organic. It came from all of us personally. Besides the fact that we wrote most of the music, we didn’t really have any restrictions on this album. Whereas with Elevate, it was like we wanted to go more “radio” and a certain type of sound. For this one, we sort of just stopped chasing other people’s ideas of what pop music should be and just wrote what we considered good pop songs, still with positive messages and a BTR vibe. Because of that, I think we’ve done some of our best writing and the fans, especially on the deluxe album, which has five extra songs, have a huge variety of good pop music.

Big Time Rush Says that The Wanted 'kind of copied' Video Concept

Get More: Music News

Big Time Rush, the boy band who found fame on the Nickelodeon series of the same name, is calling out The Wanted. The group's Carlos Pena tells "MTV News" the British fivesome "kind of copied" their concept for their most recent video for "Like Nobody's Around."

In it, Big Time Rush recreates some classic moments in boy band history in multiple time periods, copying the dance moves of groups like the New Kids on the Block and 'N Sync. The Wanted seem to have had the same thing in mind for their "Walks Like Rihanna" video, which came out more than a month after Big Time Rush's clip.

The British group also parodies videos from the past using the same choreography in their video. Pena adds that the Wanted's version is "kind of almost exactly" the same as theirs, but that he likes their song nonetheless.

Carlos Pena Sells His Mansion for 2.5$ Million Dollars

Marc Anthony, is spending millions making the West Coast his home.
The singer just splashed out $2.5 million for an Italian-style 5-bedroom, 4.5-bath villa in the gated Los Angeles enclave of Amestoy Estates in Encino, Calif., according to Trulia.
And this kind of big spending comes with some even bigger inspiration, literally. Anthony, 44, bought the posh property from fellow crooner Carlos Pena Jr. from the teen fangirling boy band sensation, Big Time Rush.
